Glaciers are melting, dry and hot spells are becoming more frequent, and the stability of permafrost is decreasing. The climate crisis knows no borders; we are all affected by its consequences. New interdisciplinary approaches to tackling climate change are becoming all the more urgent.
Climate change is having an increasing impact on ecosystems and poses major challenges for our society. In particular, the world's population is increasingly confronted with the damage caused by CO2 emissions. When it comes to reconciling progress with environmental goals, we must consider many aspects – legal, technical, social and economic – alongside ecological conditions. After all, if we want to protect our habitats, we must think across disciplinary boundaries.
The University of Zurich is committed to the sustainable development of our environment through interdisciplinary research and teaching. One example of this is the RE-TRANS research initiative, through which UZH researchers will answer fundamental questions about climate-induced resettlement and retreat.
The world needs sustainable solutions. Support UZH in creating solutions for the climate crisis.
