Zurich’s original Botanical Garden, which was created in the 1830s, is located right in the heart of Zurich, only a short walk from the main station. The garden quickly grew bigger and therefore had to find a new home: in 1977, it was moved to Zurich’s Seefeld neighborhood, where it has inspired and enchanted visitors ever since. Across its area of 5.6 hectares, it features over 7,000 plant species from a variety of recreated habitats. Three futuristic greenhouse domes give the garden its distinctive look, with its generous design and spacious layout marked by north-south and west-east axes kept clear by large trees.
